Inside the Studio

Inside the studio of Anne De Mol

  • By Alexia Werrie

Discovering the sculptress Anne De Mol. The artist opens the doors her studio filled with poetry in the heart of Boitsfort.

What I love about my work as a sculptor, is to understand the sequence of the human body movements, choose and capture attitudes and capture the moment of gesture..and restore and share these moments of emotion.

The development area and the framing of the work for me are very important steps. For a work to exist, it must be secured at the base.

Hence my fascination with the choreography and staging of Trisha Brown
Hence my interest in photographic research of Edward Muybridge
I have the desire to achieve a series of major characters in motion ..
For that I revisit my sketchbooks, accumulated for many years and I rediscover my clay figures, collected in their alcoves.
Many models taken from life, as many different personalities, are interesting gestures and attitudes.

My studio is my den, where I work alone in silence or music, depending on my humeur. Anyway, an artist creates when inspiration is there, he has then an inner music.
The building where my studio is a former hotel in the early twentieth century, refurbished by the town in small apartments and then workshop for artists
We meet now, engravers, sculptors painters..
It is located in Watermael Boitsfort, near the Place Rik Wouters ..
where Rik Wauters and his wife and muse Nel, lived.
I love the atmosphere created by the sculptures of Rik Wauters
I am very touched by the sweetness and vivacity of his sculptor bracket. I would have enjoyed meeting him.

The Museum of Ixelles has in its permanent collection some beautiful sculptures of this artist.
It is a small museum that I love, where I often I go. There are beautiful exhibitions, always with a nice hook and a beautiful light.

The main advantage of an online gallery that it affects a large audience and it supports everything that an artist has many difficulties in achieving one: the marketing and advertising of its professional activity.
