I am pleased to let you discover a glimpse of new exhibition "States of mind" at the Maison Particulière in Brussels. For their new exhibition, Maison Particulière chose to open the doors of one of our most secret and mysterious world: our unconscious. Through a selection of works from four guest art-collecting couples, States of Mind approaches the numerous aspects of this inner world. Feelings, dreams or thoughts are sheltered within the different rooms of the House. Each of the artworks reflects a new/different side of our unconsciousness: remembrances, emotions, pain, unease, sufferings and more. The exhibition presents strong works by various artists including Annette Messager, Rineke Dijkstra, Shilpa Gupta, Nan Goldin or Philippe Cognée and invited talented guest artist Thomas Lerooy (picture above, Flying without wings, 2014).
States of Mind is a true invitation to a personal perception of this inner world, our world, recreated inside Maison Particulière.
“If asked to name the greatest benefit of a house, one would say: The house shelters daydreams; the house protects the dreamer; the house lets us dream in peace.” (Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space, 1957)
