WHAT U MUST SEE: BRAFA 2014

WHAT U MUST KNOW: HUGE SPONSORSHIP BETWEEN TATE MODERN AND HYUNDAI

Tate Modern has announced its largest and longest corporate sponsorship deal, in which the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai will support 11 years of Turbine Hall commissions from 2015. Hyundai takes over from Unilever in sponsoring one of the most important annual events in contemporary art – using the gallery's vast Turbine Hall as a canvas for installations in a series that began with an enormous Louise Bourgeois spider in 2000. Hyundai has also given Tate Modern the money to buy nine works by one of Asia's most significant artists of recent years, the South Korean Nam June Paik. WHAT U MUST KNOW: NEW RECORD FOR SIMON HANTAÏ

New record for Simon Hantai, at Sotheby's in Paris on december the 3rd, the M.A. 5 Mariale from 1960 was sold for 2.561.500€. The monumental paintings "Mariales" are part of a serie of 27 canvases. This serie reflects a drastic change in the work of Hantaï, exploring new folding processes.  This painting was exhibited in 1962 at the Kléber Gallery with famous art dealer Jean Fournier.
