Monumenta invite each year a world-renowned contemporary artist to invest the 13,500 m2 of the Grand Palais with a work specially designed for the occasion. In 2013, for the 6th edition of Monumenta, the Russian artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov imagine a spectacular and mysterious installation: through a utopian city, they offer to the public, under the monumental canopy, a reflection on the human condition. They propose to loose themselves in the maze of the Strange city. "We wanted to impose a road to the visitor. Finally, we prefer to give him the freedom to choose." - Written by Samantha Souris
