Mémoires Vives - Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain

On May 10, 2014, the Fondation Cartier for Contemporary Art opens its 30th anniversary celebrations and invites the public to discover 'Mémoires Vives', first part of this exceptional year. In perpetual motion for five months, this exhibition collects the community of artists with whom the Fondation Cartier has built the story of pioneer sponsorship. (…) The 'Mémoires Vives' exhibition shows the diversity of the Fondation Cartier, his curiosity for the territories of the creation, from its opening to the world, and his unique way of crossing the multiplicity of artistic fields. It revolves around works that the Fondation Cartier has been collecting since 1984; a lively collection of which the meaning is enriched by the relationships created with the artists. According to Hervé Chandès, General Director of the Foundation Cartier for Contemporary Art, « Our collection is also a collection of exhibitions and artist relationships. This is what constitutes its identity: gathering the works, the works authors, relationships between the Foundation and the artists, between the works and the place. This is why the collection will be at the centre of the Fondation Cartier's anniversary in 2014. »
