What You must see: Giant “Pop-Up” Sculpture by Ervin Herve-Loranth in Budapest 

On the occasion of the exhibition Art Market Budapest, that took place from the 9th to the 12th October 2014, the Szechenyi Square has hosted the giant sculpture, “Pop-Up” by the Hungarian artist Ervin Herve-Loranth. Despite the exhibition Art Market Budapest is over, the sculpture is still visible until the 22th October 2014.

What you must have: Book, “100 Contemporary Artists A-Z” by Hans Werner Holzwarth

Two books gathered over 100 famous and influential contemporary artists from the 21th Century. Among them are Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marlene Dumas, Damien Hirst, Mike Kelley, Jeff Koons, Albert Oehlen, Richard Prince, Charles Ray, Cindy Sherman, and Christopher Wool. The two-volumes also include younger generation artists.

What you must know: 10th birthday of Istanbul Modern

The first and biggest contemporary and modern art museum in Turkey, Istanbul Modern, celebrates this year its 10th birthday. Opened in 2004, Istanbul Modern, focuses especially on Turkish art, has welcomed artworks by contemporary artsits from across the world like Julian Opie, Richard Deacon and Tony Cragg. To date, Turkey wasn’t known for art but Istanbul Modern intends to make Turkey a new destination for contemporary and modern art.
