About Antonio Lampecco


Antonio Lampecco is an eternal lover of the earth and its endlesspossibilities.Attached to his turn and his tirelessly repeated gestures,Antonio Lampecco has a true passion for experimentation, synonymous withquestioning. Antonio Lampecco endlessly explores the art of enameling and theuniverse of shapes. His favorite shapes will be those of plainness andsoftness: curves, balls of all sizes. Antonio Lampecco only opens to theoutside through a tiny hole in the soliflore. As the artist says, "Theyare used to be beautiful, to make people dream". In 1953, he joined theworkshops of the Abbey of Maredsous and took over the management of the ceramicworkshop. His 60-year career has allowed his expertise to shine in Belgium andabroad.

AntonioLampecco was born in Minuccianio , Italy in 1932. As a young boy he learned thecraft near Venice and worked as ceramist to support the family financially. TheLampecco's came to Belgium in 1948 and Antonio Lampecco started at the abbey ofMaredsous as thrower. In 1956 he started his own studio and his first publicexhibition was held at the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels. His reputation as anartist grew rapidly and exhibitions were held in Köln, Firenze, Montreal, NewYork, Paris, Prague, Lisbon, Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona, Warsaw, Ankara, andmany other places over the world. The work of Antonio Lampecco is representedin several museums.

He died inBelgium in 2019.
