Charlotte Vindevoghel is a Belgian artistwhose pictorial practice is deeply driven by a passion for color, light, andmaterial. Her work unfolds through a constant dialogue between construction anddeconstruction, where layers of paint reveal sensitive spaces infused withmystery, memory, and poetry.
The artist has developed a chromatic universe dominated by deep reds, earthybrowns, and warm tonalities punctuated by rare luminous accents. In CharlotteVindevoghel’s work, color becomes living matter. Her reds, applied throughmultiple successive layers, gain intensity and depth until they evoke anorganic and vibrant energy.
Working primarily on large-scale canvases, she creates immersive compositionsin which light and shadow appear to engage in silent dialogue. Meticulouslayering, transparency effects, and variations in density generate inhabitedsurfaces oscillating between abstraction and inner landscape.
Her technique alternates delicate flat areas with thicker textures thatoccasionally disrupt the apparent balance of the composition. These intentionaldisruptions introduce a sensitive tension into the work, inviting viewers toenter the pictorial space rather than merely observe it.
Charlotte Vindevoghel’s paintings are nourished by memories of travel, introspection, and a continuous search for inner energy. Her painterly gesturecombines intuition, impulse, and reflection, giving rise to deeply emotionalworks.
Poetry also occupies an essential place within her practice. The artistsometimes incorporates fragments of texts inspired by poets such as Rimbaud andRilke, alongside Haikus and her own writings. These words appear as discreettraces that enrich the emotional experience of the work.
Charlotte Vindevoghel graduated from the École Nationale Supérieured’Architecture et des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in 1977 and has taught paintingsince 1984. Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitionsthroughout Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, and Switzerland.
